Torrent is part of – THREAD, Commissioned by Dancenorth, 2015
As Dancenorth celebrates its 30th year, in May 2015 the company presented three incredibly diverse new works, all linked by the thread of lineage and connection to the company.
Torrent is inspired by the connection between us, kinetic energy and elemental forces. We looked at the accumulation/build up, then the surge or outpouring and lastly the debris or what remains. It is an abstract interpretation of human experience and this idea of a ‘violent or unexpected surge’ relates to us on a human level as well. Torrent will examine this unstable dynamic through choreography between body, object, light and sound
