ABOUT

Lisa Wilson Projects creates immersive, distinctive and challenging performance works. A focus on  total environments for the work and integration of cross art form collaborations ensures the work is theatrically compelling and noted for being intellectually rigorous and artistically daring.

Lisa is an award-winning dance artist with an international career as director, choreographer, producer, performer, educator and mentor. Her body of work moves across genres having created for theatre companies, opera, large-scale installation work, poly-media performances, company commissions and full- length independent work. 

 Lisa’s choreographic credits range from critically acclaimed full-length independent works, to works for - The Australian Ballet Company, Sydney Dance Company, Queensland Ballet, Expressions Dance Company, Dance North, Queensland Theatre Company, Opera Queensland, The Place Theatre ‘Resolution!’ (UK), to name a few.

Lisa’s work has been nominated in numerous critics’ choice awards, was a finalist at The Australian Dance awards and Helpmann Awards and has toured nationally in Australia to critical acclaim and showcased at national performing arts markets. As a choreographer Lisa has been awarded numerous fellowships, grants and residencies both in Australia and internationally, including the prestigious Hephzibah Tintner Choreographic Fellowship in 2011.

Lisa’s full-length work Lake, toured nationally as a Road Work tour through Performing Lines, was a finalist at The Australian Dance Awards and showcased at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) generating international interest.

As a prominent figure in the Australian dance sector Lisa has initiated programs such as Elevate, a pre-professional/emerging artist transition program, she lectures on faculty at QUT Dance, has been a peer assessor for The Australia Council for the Arts, original board member of The Supercell Festival of Contemporary Dance and board member of Ausdance Qld, providing dance expertise and representing the interests of dance artists at a governance level.

Lisa has also been a leading, professional contemporary dancer and from 1995-2012 collaborated and performed for prominent choreographers and companies throughout Australia and the United Kingdom, appearing in prestigious Arts Festivals and venues worldwide in Japan, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, China, Germany, Mexico, New Caledonia and the U.S.A.   

Lisa has consistently worked as an educator across all tiers of the education system in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has given company classes for Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Expressions Dance Company, Dance North and Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Co. and workshops and master classes across Australia, England and in Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, China, Mexico and New Caledonia.
