Lisa Wilson Projects creates immersive, distinctive and challenging performance works. A focus on total environments for the work and integration of cross art form collaborations ensures the work is theatrically compelling and noted for being intellectually rigorous and artistically daring.
Lisa has a twenty-year international career, working as director, choreographer, producer, performer and educator. Her body of work moves across genres having created for theatre companies, opera, large-scale instillation work, multi media performances, company commissions and full- length independent work.
Lisa’s choreographic credits include: Lake (Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts and national touring with Performing Lines), Elbow Room (Brisbane Powerhouse), Sydney Dance Company, Queensland Theatre Company, Opera Queensland, The Australian Ballet, Dancenorth, Queensland Ballet Company, Expressions Dance Company, The Place Theatre ‘Resolution!’ (UK), Rambert Dance Company with the English National Trust (UK), QUT’s Dance and Drama departments, Ausdance Qld’s Belltower ll series and the 2008 World Dance Alliance.
In 2011 Lisa was awarded the Hephzibah Tintner Choreographic Fellowship, to work with the Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company and Opera Australia. As a choreographer, educator and performer, Lisa has worked in festivals and theatres in Japan, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, China, Germany, Mexico, New Caledonia and the U.S.A.
2014 saw Lisa’s full length work Lake tour nationally to five states, as a Road Work tour, produced by Performing Lines and showcase at the Australian Performing Arts Market. In 2015 Lisa Wilson Projects ongoing developments include-Wireless, a new intermedia dance theatre work in collaboration with composer Paul Charlier, and Never Without, funded by an Ausdance Qld creative development grant and the Judith Wright Centre. Both works are supported through a Fresh Ground residency at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts.
Lisa has worked as an educator across all tiers of the education system in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has given company classes for Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Expressions Dance Company, Dance North and Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Co. and workshops and master classes across Australia, England and in Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, China, Mexico and New Caledonia.
